Stepan Company USA and United Coconut Chemicals, Inc. have recently established a joint venture company called Stepan Philippines Quaternaries, Inc.(SPQI). Its purpose is to engage in the manufacture of esterquat or ingredients for fabric softener, other quaternaries and tertiary amine derivatives.
SPQI has selected JPHIL to do the Detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction of a New Fabric Softener Plant in Bauan, Batangas. This future plant will have as main equipment the reactor R-571, to be fed by raw materials in batches.
This new project is appropriately called as the Batch Reactor Facility Project or Stepan Project for short.
The new plant will be constructed on Stepans existing surfactant plant in Aplaya, Bauan, Batangas. JPHIL will do the EPC works with a project schedule of 14 mos. up to mechanical completion.
The project task force is headed by project manager Alex De Guzman who will oversee the smooth execution of the project. Joel Lubguban is the engineering manager while Antonio Melicano is the construction manager. Furthermore, this project would not have materialized without the efforts of our business development manager Mike Salazar.
The new plant, consisting of 33 equipment, will function as a receiving, storage, processing and distribution facility for the final product.
With another EPC project under our belt, we certainly stand to enhance our knowledge and understanding of EPC jobs. Having started on the right foot, we can expect big results for this project in terms of technical competence and financial benefits.
