PNRC representatives Pablo Katigbak and Banjo Rosales led the discussions and actual demonstration of first aid techniques. The seminar kicked off with an orientation of the fundamental principles, guidelines and rules on first-aid, characteristics of a good First Aider and the Emergency Plan and Golden Rule in providing First Aid. The topics discussed included common emergencies encountered in an industrial setting and how to administer adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Lecture modules on wounds, shock, burns, bites, poison and common diseases were distributed. To enhance understanding of the theories, participants were involved in role-playing activities where they learned what to do to in times of emergencies like how to rescue casualties, proper transport of victims from the real scene to a nearby hospital, and how to give CPR to an unconscious victim. The seminar/workshop ended with a written and practical examination. Certificates and identification cards declaring the participants Certified Lay Rescuers were issued.
The participants were happy and satisfied for having achieved their objectives, namely, humanity, neutrality, impartiality, independent, voluntary services, and unity.
