G1 Project, Thailand
G1 project is owned by Asia Silicones Monomer Ltd. (ASM) of Thailand. It covers 65 hectares of land situated at Map Ta Phut, Rayong, Thailand. The plant is designed to produce 70,000 tonnes per year of silicone monomer. Silicone is a raw material that is used to develop silicone-based applications such as sealants, paint additives, adhesives, special rubbers, hard plastic coatings, cosmetics, etc.
The plant has three (3) major areas, namely: Silane Area (Shin Etsu technology), Siloxane Area (GE Toshiba technology) and Common Area (includes utilities, water treatment, switchgears, etc.). The plant is a pioneering venture between two of the world's largest silicone producers, Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd. and GE Toshiba Silicone.
The contract was awarded to JGC Corp., Japan in March 2002 and will be turned over to client within 21 months. The engineering works are being done entirely in JGC Philippines.
